Recognising Women. (Remarkable People – The Women of Tyrrellspass)
Honouring the contribution that Countess Belvedere and six other women have made to the village of Tyrrellspass (Ireland) over 200 years.
The sculpture is reflective of the Edwardian period, a time through which many of these women lived. Small and discreet, the head is bowed as the women were deemed to be the most self-effacing of people. It’s design is such that you can see some of Countess Belvedere’s patronage though the sculpture.
It was officially unveiled on Saturday 13 Nov 2021 by Dr Ina Kelly, President of the Irish Medical Organisation and in the presence of various family members of the other six women. The marble is Portuguese Rosa (more commonly known as Portuguese Pink) and sits on a limestone plinth.

The work in the white/grey marble is the actual prototype for the final sculpture. This piece sits on large grey marble base and designed for indoor or outdoor space.
