The Imperial Volker & the Cullinan Diamond

Portfolio Description

The Imperial Volker & The Cullinan Diamond

The inspiration for this commission was the famous sculpture LOVE by Robert Indiana.  Here, the letters LOVE are replaced with the Volker’s initials VFJB.  The crown symbolises the owners fascination and love for all things royal in Austria and the UK.  A diamond is carved into the rear of the work and represents the Cullinan Diamond, the largest gem-quality rough diamond discovered in South Africa in 1905.  Volker works in the field of gemology.

The marble is pure white statuary Carrara marble and base is the finest black Belgian marble.  The piece weighs approx. 50kg.

The piece was unveiled and presented to Volker on 17 July 2022 in The Strauss Hall at The Kur Salon, Vienna on the occasion of VFJB’s 60th birthday and in the presence of 100 guests.
